On 27th June 1999, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, where 2807 is based, held a Restoration Day. This involved moving a number of locomotives in various states of restoration, to the GWR's Winchcombe station for display.

On 20th June, 2807 was moved from her usual location at Toddington to Winchcombe, hauled by a class 14 diesel. The journey went well, and 2807 was positioned in the bay platform at Winchcombe.

On Restoration Day itself, a large number of 2807 volunteers and shareholders experienced a great day and were able to show the engine to interested visitors, and talk about the achievements and aspirations for 2807.

At one point in the day, a bucket of burning fir cones was placed under 2807's chimney. This gave the illusion of 2807 in steam, something not seen for many years.

2807 was moved back to Toddington on the morning of Saturday 3rd July by a class 47 diesel, and returned to it's place in the station yard where restoration continued.

The move was very valuable in itself as it proved that the rolling chassis is capable of running over both track and points, that lubrication systems are operating correctly and that the pony truck assembly is functioning.
