A new updated G.W.R. 2807 website has been launched by Cotswold Steam Preservation Ltd. The new site will continue to grow in time and is intended to be a repository for 'all things 2807'.
In preparation for the Gloucestershire Wawickshire Railway's Steam Gala over the weekend of October 14-15, 2807 made the short trip from the 'yard' to the bay platform at Toddington. After much preparatory oiling 2807 was moved carefully and slowly to take a central position at the two day event. As with the visit to Winchcombe in 1999 the movement was uneventful.
A lot of interest was shown in the project over the weekend, with volunteers explaining the progress of the restoration to those who expressed an interest. Many people were very pleased to see 2807 enjoying a slightly higher public profile and were impressed with the restoration progress.
2807 was moved back to its position in the yard at about 4.30 on the Sunday of the Steam Gala. There were no complications from the movement and, apart from re-erecting the protective coverings no additional work was necessary.
Said coverings were attended to the following weekend. This took a team effort - to figure out how best to use what covers we have got, and then to manhandle the stuff! The loco now has a (relatively) clear cover with few holes, replacing the tattered and torn old one. The tender has a huge yellow waterproof over the front 3/4, with the rear 1/4 having a clearer cover.
